Biography

“I certainly love what I do. Having the ability to make a difference in a person’s life brings me great satisfaction. Seeing patients and families return as friends tells me we have built this practice slowly and well. I can’t even think of doing anything else.”

In private practice for 25 years and double board certified in both Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology (head and neck) Surgery, Dr. Watanabe brings exceptional skill and experience to every patient. Modest and soft spoken, Dr. Watanabe intentionally sidesteps the limelight. “The most important thing to me is that every patient be treated not as a procedure—but as our guest.” His busy, referral based practice is testimony that this approach suits prospective patients of all ages, genders and desires.

According to Dr. Watanabe, establishing good rapport during the consultation is critical. “I feel the time I spend with each patient demonstrates my commitment and shows them the respect they deserve. My first job is to listen to what is bothering them. Only then can I deliver honest advice.” Educating, informing and tailoring each recommendation gives the prospective patient the tools to make the best decision. Dr. Watanabe describes his conversations as informal and casual, but direct. “You have to choose the treatment that suits you, whether that requires surgery or not. If you choose surgery, you must know the risks and the benefits. Whether I am your first or third consultation, you will leave knowing what to expect.”

Innately conservative, Dr. Watanabe brings precision and attention to detail to every procedure. He specializes in aesthetic procedures of the face, breast and body. His roots in functional anatomy of the head and neck combined with the delicate, artistic nature of plastic surgery have earned him a reputation for providing beautiful, natural looking enhancements. “Over the years, our practice has shifted from reconstructive to cosmetic. We can deliver subtle changes that have a dramatic effect on how an individual feels about themselves.”

Perhaps the greatest tribute to Dr. Watanabe’s success is his tenured staff. Some of them have been with him over 21 years. “Part of building a great practice is surrounding oneself with top notch staff—in the office and the in-house surgery suite. Their experience, training and sincere concern makes every patient who visits us feel comfortable and cared for. The patient loyalty I enjoy would not be possible without them.”

An active member in the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons; Dr. Watanabe keeps current with all the latest innovations in the specialty. “While basic anatomy has not changed, the tools and techniques at our disposal have become incredibly refined. And although technology is integrated into almost everything we do, it will never take the place of old-fashioned patient care.”
